National Chiropractic Health Month

October is National Chiropractic Health Month. That means it's time to "get moving" on your plans to participate here in the Magic Valley! This year's theme , “Move 4 Life,” was adopted by Blue Lakes Chiropractic and the American Chiropractic Association. Our theme promotes the benefits of movement not only for overall health but also acknowledges it's role in the prevention of low back pain and falling.

In addition to the benefits that movement has on our cardiovascular system, the ACA says that physical activity is vitally important to the health of bones, muscles and joints -- known as the musculoskeletal system.  Movement helps the body to nourish this system, giving it strength and stability, which in turn reduces the risk of back pain and helps prevent falls and other injuries that can cause disability.

Back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide. It is also one of the most common conditions for which opioid pain medications are prescribed. With concerns today about the overuse of opioids, it’s essential for health care consumers to understand that spinal manipulation and other nondrug treatments that chiropractors provide can GET THEM MOVING by alleviating painful and disabling conditions such as low back pain.

Research shows there is a worldwide pandemic of inactivity, people are not moving enough. In the U.S., only about half of all adults and only a quarter of high school ages students get the recommended amount of physical activity.

As an expert in musculoskeletal health and pain relief, your Twin Falls chiropractor, Dr. Arrington is uniquely suited to encourage the Magic Valley community to move more and provide recommendations on how to do so, especially if back or joint pain is the obstacle keeping you from doing what you love!
